Community Involvement
The Columbia Italian American Club of Union takes great pride in its commitment to the people of Union, and has always been involved with community projects.
In 1999, after a two-year period of raising funds, the Club donated a barrier free playground that was constructed at Rabkin Field.
Today, thousands of physically challenged children can enjoy hours of fun in this scientifically designed, safe playground.
In 2001, the Club donated a monument honoring Italian explorer Christopher Columbus.
The monument was placed at Columbus Park on Morris Avenue.
in Union Center, across from the Municipal Building.
On September 23, 2004, the Union Hospital Foundation honored the Columbia Italian American Club of Union as their 2004 Organization of the Year at a dinner at the L'Affaire in Mountainside.  The Club was honored for raising and donating over $100,000 to various charities and youth organizations in our community.
